"In 2007 my wife and I visited New Zealand for the first time. Among our many amazing experiences there we were able to take a helicopter flight to the top of the Franz Josef Glacier on the South Island. The Franz Josef Glacier is unique in that it moves quickly down a very steep slope. Because it travels so quickly before the ice can melt and break apart, the terminus actually lies in a temperate rainforest only a couple of miles from the ocean. 'Snowbound' is one of two paintings that I created from our trip to the top of the Glacier."
