This is a pen and ink depiction of the animal held sacred to the Native American of the prairie. Although the Lakota term "Tatanka" is familiar to most people, the term "Pte Ca Ka" is another term used by those people to describe the American Bison. According to Lakota belief, a white Buffalo calf will one day be born, at which time the Lakota lands will be restored and all inhabitants of the Earth shall live in peace. Printed on acid free stock with fade resistant inks, the print is signed by Russell Smith. |
