- open edition print, 13” x 19”

(scroll down for purchasing information)

Known as the "Iron Eagle" (Der Eiserne Adler), Vzfw Paul Bäumer served in an infantry regiment before his transfer to the German Air Service. He was one of only five pilots to be awarded both the Blue Max and the Golden Military Merit Cross. He survived the war with 43 victories to his credit, and following the war, he became a dentist and continued flying. He was killed while performing an aerobatic display in 1927. "Bäumer's Edelweiss" is a depiction of the colorfully marked Albatros DV which he flew with Jasta 5. Bäumer scored his first three victories in this machine - all balloons.

Printed on acid free stock with fade resistant inks, the print is signed by Russell Smith.
